Testing and Evaluation

Most jobs with a recruitment status of “continuous” either require the applicant to take a written and/or performance test, or have their education and experience rated by a trained evaluator. In addition, some “special recruitment” jobs (like Trooper and Special Agent) also require applicants to take a test.

The majority of written tests are offered on a walk-in basis at the State Personnel Administration office in Atlanta. Generally, if you wish to take the test outside Atlanta, you need to request a regional test center when you apply on-line and complete the State of Georgia Resume Builder. You will be sent a written notice providing date, time, and location of testing.

If the Screening Type listed for the job is a qualifications assessment, your resume will be reviewed by a trained evaluator to determine if your job-related training, experience or competencies meet the minimum, and in some cases preferred, qualifications.

If the Screening Type listed for the job is Resume Review, the hiring agency will review the applicants’ resumes and determine any additional screening procedures to be used to select applicants. In most cases, this will include an interview.
