Testing and Evaluation
After you have taken a written test or been evaluated, you will receive a Notice of Examination Results. If you took a Merit System written test, your notice will show the percentage of points you received in the various subject areas of the test. (However, you cannot use these percentages to directly determine your overall final score.) Passing scores on written tests normally range from 70 to 100. If you have filed the proper documents (e.g., DD214), your eligibility for veterans preference will be reflected on the Notice of Examination Results. If you were not required to take a written test but a qualifications assessment was performed, your notice will indicate whether or not you meet the qualifications for the job based on a review of your education and training, experience or other competencies as described on your resume or application. The names of those who receive a passing test score or meet job qualifications will be placed on a List of Available Applicants which agencies may use to fill vacancies. Numerical test scores and qualifications assessment decisions are usually valid for six months. Valid test scores and qualifications decisions may be renewed for an additional six months by calling the Data Entry Section at (404) 656-2728. If you did not do as well as you expected on a written test, or you have gained additional education or experience, you may be able to apply again after a waiting period. Jobs listed in the Continuous Recruitment Job Titles section have a "Retest Code" that will tell you how long you have to wait to reapply and the number of times you can reapply each year. |
