The Georgia Department of Driver Services, Regulatory Compliance Division, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Safety and Compliance Specialist within its Field Operations Unit.


Under limited supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for all facets of the initial and ongoing certification requirements of Driver Safety program owners, program directors, and/or program instructors throughout the State of Georgia; including, but not limited to:

Auditing and monitoring all DDS-certified regulated programs within his or her area of assignment to ensure compliance with agency rules and regulations and state law.

The incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with the core values of the Department of Driver Services.

The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment.

The incumbent will be responsible investigating customer complaints, presenting his or her findings to management, and making recommendations to management on the most appropriate course of action.

The incumbent will be expected to serve on task teams and workgroups.

The incumbent will be expected to develop strong partnerships between the Division and its internal and external business partners.

The incumbent will be expected to assist with training events.

Minimum Training & Experience: High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience Or Associate's degree in a related field and one year of related experience Or One year at the lower level or equivalent (RCP011) Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure

Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants that, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field of study AND;
• Five (5) years of professional experience in a position whose primary responsibility was to conduct onsite audits of regulated programs within a specified geographic area and interpret and apply agency rules, regulations and state laws to ensure compliance;
• Residency within close proximity of the following Georgia counties: Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Polk, Haralson, Paulding, Cobb, Carroll, Douglas and Fulton.
