Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Automotive Diesel) position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Industrial and Transportation Technology department.  This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.    

 


Under the general supervision of the Dean of Industrial and Transportation Technology department, the Adjunct Instructor (Automotive Diesel) must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry and public sector. This position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.)


 

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:


  • Develop and review program and syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi.

  • Evaluate and review student progress in attaining goals and objectives.

  • Provide instruction, guidance, and counseling to students while maintaining accurate and up-to-date advisement records to document student progress, needs and outcomes.

  • Request and maintain supplies, equipment and prepare budget requests.

  • Attend staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.

  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training area.

  • Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues.

  • Assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

  • Maintain ASE certification and ensures instructor’s qualifications for employment as described by Atlanta Technical College, Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual ad accreditation standards.

  • Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Must display willingness to receive input and undergo internal review of processes and procedures used in the classroom

  • Knowledge of academic course standards

  • Skill in presenting subject matter

  • Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress

  • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners

  • Oral and written communications

  • Knowledge of student information systems

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • High School diploma or equivalent AND a post-secondary diploma in Automotive or Diesel technology and two (2) or more years of related work experience. 

  • ASE certification in Diesel Technology.

  • Experience working with or around heavy equipment.
