Location: Mobile-based in Bartow, Cherokee, Paulding, Polk counties

This position requires extensive travel in the Northwest/Central West region as well as some travel across the state. The successful candidate must reside in or adjacent to the assigned territory. Candidates living outside the target region will be considered if a cover letter indicating a willingness to relocate at their own expense is included.

Job Description: Under broad supervision, provides onsite instructional support and coaching to public/private Georgia’s Pre-K provider staff.  Develops a partnership with local school districts and childcare centers and other related duties as assigned. Serves as a Georgia’s Pre-K Program expert and division resource in assigned territory; Provide support, training, and technical assistance to programs to develop, implement and provide a high-quality instructional program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitors, evaluates, and supports Pre-K providers in assigned region in implementing a quality Georgia’s Pre-K Program and provide technical assistance to individual programs as needed
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with children and adults from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicates effectively in oral and written form
  • Prepares and maintains records and files
  • Reads, understands, interprets, and implements applicable policies, procedures, and state mandates
  • Develops presentations and delivers information to individuals and groups
  • Reacts with flexibility and sensitivity to changing situations and needs
  • Maintains cooperative work relationships
  • Attends required training and meetings both within and outside the agency
  • Adheres to and follows the Consultant of the Day schedule and duties
  • Maintains CLASS reliability, certifications and conducts CLASS visits as assigned
  • Monitors, records travel data and prepares bi-weekly invoices for submission

Agency Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and four (4) years of program management experience; or Associate

degree in education or business or a related field from an accredited college or university; or two

(2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 1 (EDP030) or position

equivalent.

Agency Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college in Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field AND five years of experience as a teacher in the delivery of an early childhood education curriculum or in a position within the child development field that demonstrated the following:

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young children.  
  • Exposure to childcare program policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of early childhood education curriculum, instructional methodology and standards required.
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to typing skills, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Physical Requirements and Performance Aptitudes:

  • Requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
  • Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification.
  • Occasionally stand or walk for long periods of time; moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Requires the ability to speak clearly. 
  • Requires the ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally continuously stand or walk for long periods of time; regularly requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items or materials occasionally of moderate weight up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
  • Requires a full range of hand and finger motion for data entry purposes.
  • Requires a valid Georgia driver’s license, insurance coverage and have the ability to drive for extensive periods as needed.

Technical Competencies: 

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young children.

  • Knowledge of early childhood education curriculum, instructional methodology and standards required.
