$25.00/HOUR FOR 4-YEAR FORESTRY DEGREE GRADUATES (NON-LICENSED)
$35.00/HOUR FOR GEORGIA REGISTERED FORESTERS

Job Description:

Job Opening:               Forester (TDL)

Pay:                             $25.00/hour for 4-year forestry degree graduates (non-licensed)

                                    $35.00/hour for Georgia Registered Foresters

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, performs various forest management activities.

Duties may include:

  • Provide technical assistance to landowners in all areas of forest management.
  • Prepare multiple resource management plans for landowners.
  • Conduct seedling planting and survival surveys.
  • Assist landowners with various cost-share programs through development of management plans and verification of forest management practice completion.
  • Provide technical assistance to landowners in afforestation and reforestation.
  • Diagnose insect and disease infestations and make recommendations for control.
  • Assess storm damage to forest lands.
  • Assist in developing Rx Burn Plans and implementation under the guidance of Certified Rx Burn Managers/foresters
  • Prepare reports, including measuring and computing acreage
  • Other job duties as assigned by Region Lead Forester or Cost Share Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of bachelor’s degree in forestry, forest resources, or closely related major, which includes core forestry coursework from a SAF accredited school; completion of an associate degree in forestry, which includes forestry coursework from an SAF accredited school, and be a Georgia Registered Forester. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of southern forestry and cost share programs.

Position Length: This is a temporary position funded by a two-year grant project. Employee cannot exceed 29 work hours per week.

Job Location(s):  Negotiable: *Must reside in or live in a county touching one of the 42 counties listed below. Work area will entail all 42 counties.*
