Tax Examiner Supervisor

About the Role

Join the Georgia Department of Revenue as a Tax Examiner Supervisor in our Individual Verification Tax Unit. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Business Operations, you'll lead the day-to-day work of the Unit—building, guiding, and motivating a team of Tax Examiners in a fast-paced, production-driven setting.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor work input and output across multiple tax types
  • Set workload priorities and manage work item queues
  • Use KPIs to evaluate staff and drive top performance
  • Mentor your team through coaching and accountability
  • Help resolve sensitive and complex issues

Success in this role calls for strong leadership, sharp delegation skills, and the ability to keep tasks on track and deadlines met.

Entry Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university, and 2 years of experience examining, preparing, or auditing financial documents—including 1 year as a lead worker, team leader, or supervisor.
  • ~or~ 4 years of experience examining, preparing, or auditing financial documents—including 1 year as a lead worker, team leader, or supervisor.
  • ~or~ 1 year of experience at the Tax Examiner 3 (FIT012) level or position equivalent.

Note: Qualified candidates will complete a writing assessment as part of the application process.

Position Details

  • Status & Pay Grade: Unclassified – Pay Grade J
  • Salary: $59,280
  • Location: DOR South Metro Office, 4125 Welcome All Rd, Atlanta, GA 30349
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday

A teleworking schedule of 1 in-office day per week may be available after you demonstrate proficiency post-training. This is subject to DOR policies and performance expectations.
